My name is Laura Fretwell, I am the Founder of Angel Matcher, LLC. When I started Angel Matcher, I was a married mother of five and grandmother to one. My Family had supported my desire to help others, and in August 2008 I lost my dear husband and partner Doug to a year long battle with cancer. I did take a time to grieve and now in April 2009 I have moved forward to bring Angel Matcher back into the business of Making Babies!
My interest in surrogacy started after the birth of my last daughter Faith in 2001. I knew at that time my family was complete, however my love of being pregnant and helping others led me to surrogacy.
I am a gestational surrogate who successfully matched independently with my couple and decided that I wanted to help others also match successfully and relieve some of the stress involved with Intended Parent/Surrogate Matching.
My Couple has struggled through 7 IVF transfers 2 with another surrogate and the last 5 with me, 6 of those transfers failed, with no reason. In April 2005 we transfered one last time, changing protocol, trying acupuncture - praying for a miracle. Two days after Mothers Day 2005, they realised their dreams, they are going to be parents. I am a small intimate service, I like to get to know the Intended Parents who contract me to help them find their Angel, I also get to know the surrogates personally. I am not the 'traditional' business, therefore don't have traditional business hours. I make myself available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Email messages are retrived almost every hour and replied to within 4 to 6 hours. However, keep in mind, I am not a doctor or lawyer and I will need to refer any medical or legal questions to them, I will however let you know I am working on it, and will get back to you as soon as I know the correct answer.
On January 9th, 2006, I delivered via emergency c-section my gestational surrogate dauther - Lauren - she weighed 5lbs, was 18" long. It was an amazing journey and I thank my IP's for allowing me to opportunity to help them make this true miracle. Lauren helped me realize my dreams and helped my IP's finally after 5 years become parents. Although we had a traumatic ending to the pregnancy she was born and had no health problems and was released just after 72 hours. A special thank you to my IP's for an amazing journey and for all the beautiful pictures and for the support and love they have given my family.
My goal and mission is to make the Intended Parents as well as the Surrogates journey as stress free as possible, so they can concentrate on the more important issues, getting pregnant and having their Angel.
I will do everything from placing ads, interviewing, doing the necessary reference/background checks, helping with finding a suitable clinic, contacting and coordinating appointments, writing contracts with state laws addressed, contacting and working with the attorney to ensure all the necessary legal paperwork is taken care so that the pre-birth orders, step parent adoption (if necessary). I remain involved throughout the journey as a consultant/liaison to be sure that if anything needs to be addressed it is handled quickly and professionally.
